DevMEET Was Awesome!

Sat Jun 27, 2009, 7:19 AM
Attended the Toronto DevMEET for world tour yesterday with ~ShinobiAngel94 and ~mitsuki94 and it was definitely awesome.

At first there was a bit of difficulty finding the place as I've only been to High Park once before that, but it wasn't too difficult, since we found some people with Canadian flags fairly quickly. Once we found the Cafe it wasn't hard to find the deviants since it was a huge turnout. Apparently there were about 140 people.

$spyed showed us a few awesome new additions to the website including profiles, groups and updates to the search function. It all sounded really awesome and I can't wait. When I was over with the photography people (we split up into different types of art) we also gave a bunch of suggestions to $Moonbeam13.

Sorry *Blacklemon67 for not mentioning it! Not sure if you could have come anyway, but I knew there was someone we forgot to call about it, and when I asked ~WeAreZeitgeist I thought that was it. Didn't remember until we were already there. Apologies! :(

DFTBA!

Oh, and I'm going away for the month of July, so expect a bunch of pictures from my trip, but I don't think I'll have much, if any, access to a computer.

Or DFTBA for short.

A select few people will know what I mean by that title (I'm not going to go into too much detail about that unless someone wants me to explain). But in short, I'm part of a bunch of people known as Nerdfighters who are not made of flesh and blood, but rather of awesome. :D

One of the guys who started Nerdfighters (Hank Green) co-founded DFTBA records, which is a a record company that has so far signed a bunch of artists from YouTube who they think are quite talented and give them a place to sell their album and stuff (DaveDays is one person they've signed).

DFTBA Records has two websites: DFTBA.com [link] and their site at ReverbNation [link] . ReverbNation is, as I gather, a community of record labels, artists and fans. I've joined the site and I've also become part of DFTBA's "Street Team." (We're getting to the main point, just hang on a little longer!) What the Street Team does, is we are volunteers who choose to partake in little missions (that are completely optional) set by DFTBA and we advertise (in things like blogs and journals, like I'm doing now).

The current mission is to get as many other people as you can to sign up to be part of the street team via your widget. We've been given embed codes that we can add to places which is a quick way for people to join the street team (although it would help if you join reverbnation.com). The prize? The person who gets the most people to join by this Saturday (June 6) will win a free iPod Shuffle fully loaded with music from DFTBA records.

Why am I telling you this?
I, to be blunt, really want to win this. It's not often (if ever) that I ask you guys to join websites and things, but I really think that the artists supported by DFTBA Records are very talented and I also want an ipod. So if you won't do it for me, join to spread the word about DFTBA Records.
(And if you will do it for me, if you would spread the link to my blogspot around I will less than three you forever <3 =P)

My widget can be found on my new blog: [link]

Thanks, and Don't Forget To Be Awesome!

Woah. I haven't uploaded a journal entry since March! Ah well, it's irrelevant anyway.
There's not really any direction that I want to go with this journal, so if it seems like I'm jumping around a lot I apologize.

Today has been a lovely day. I found yet another new singer/songwriter/band or whatever you'd like to call him who can be found here: [link] . That's who I'm listening to now. Also, I quite like Tom Milsom [link] .

I also got Google Chrome today. It's lovely. When I asked my dad and he said yes, I walked down the hall and then when I was out of sight I spontaneously burst into my happy dance. I haven't done that in a while. It was really funny when I imagined what I must look like. I've never done it in front of a mirror or anything, so I don't really know what I look like.

Hello there my DeviantART pals! *waves*

I have found this website through YouTube called...DailyBooth! =D
Alright, the point of this journal is to find recruits *cough* so that I have some friends that I know and don't look like such a stalker following awesome YouTube people *cough*

Anyway, I understand that some of you may be against the whole "having your face on the internet" thing, but it really is quite interesting. The idea behind it is that you upload/snap a photo once every day to see how you change over time.

I'll admit that the Internet = no photos people do have something on this site in that anyone can see your photos. No, you don't have to be friends or even a member to see the pictures posted on this website. However, it has been idiot proofed. The main page is all about getting people to join the site, and there's this one little remote button that will take you to find pictures of people...so yeah.

If you already have it and want to be my friend, just let me know! I'm sure you can guess what my username over there is. :D

Sorry for uploading this earlier and then editing it and un-checking the "this edit is minor" box, but I forgot to add this: [link]

Now, I realize that I'm not in the UK, but many people are, and just incase someone from the UK comes along and sees this go help Tom out. He has more information on his channel.

----------

Found this in ^shebid's journal:

1 - Open [link]
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
(alternatively, if the first article you hit is short, hit Random Article two more times.)

2 - Open [link]
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Open [link]
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

My results are:
Band Name - 181 Fremont Street
Album Name - Aiming At What's Far
Album Cover - [link]

In my opinion that's pretty awesome, how it turned out.

So anyway, I realize that I haven't been very active lately, but I've been busy...kind of. I've been working on a few things for DA recently, but I just can't get myself focused enough to finish them. I've also become quite enamored with YouTube. I don't really have much else to say...

Oh, and I'm dropping the 100 Theme Challenge. I'm dropping it because I've realized that I really just quite apathetic about it. I draw all sorts of things, but I never actually go and make things for that purpose. I may not actually be dropping it, but don't expect anything any time soon...or do, since just because I've written that I'm likely to go out and work on it when it's daylight.
